Our founder, Varand Gourjian, represents an array of clients including Fortune 500 companies, federal court receivers, bankruptcy trustees, as well as large institutional lenders and individual unsecured creditors.
Mr. Gourjian is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in California. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Financial Lawyers Conference, the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney Association, and the Armenian Bar Association. His practice is primarily comprised of business, real estate, and bankruptcy clients:
- As a top business attorney, Mr. Gourjian serves as outside general counsel to numerous industry leaders with revenues exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars, Mr. Gourjian advises on all aspects of daily operations and strategic decision-making.
- As part of the firms’ real estate practice, Mr. Gourjian represents developers, investors, and real estate professionals throughout all stages of real estate transactions.
- Finally, with extensive bankruptcy and reorganization practice, Mr. Gourjian represents debtors, creditors, trustees and court appointed receivers throughout complex insolvency proceedings.
A recognized leader in each area of practice, Mr. Gourjian has regularly been named a “Super Lawyer” by Southern California Super Lawyers and Los Angeles Magazine since 2001. “Rising stars” are selected from nominations submitted by current Super Lawyers and represent the top 2.5% of up-and-coming attorneys in the state. Mr. Gourjian also regularly lectures throughout Southern California on the effects of bankruptcy on real estate markets and transactions.
Prior to founding Gourjian Law Group, Mr. Gourjian was an attorney with the law firms of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis and Sulmeyer Kupetz Baumann & Rothman. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and his B.A. from UCLA, where he graduated cum laude, with departmental honors in Philosophy. While at UCLA School of Law, he clerked for the Honorable Kathleen Thompson (USBC, Cental District of California) and was an editor for the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs.
Olivia J. Palmieri is a ten year seasoned attorney with experience in business litigation, franchising on both the franchisor and franchisee side, as well as extensive real estate experience. Prior to joining Gourjian Law Group, Ms. Palmieri served as in-house counsel for Al & Ed’s Auto Sound, Cerwin Vega Mobile, Electra House, Inc. dba Baja Fresh & La Salsa and several other companies. Her experience and expertise has made for a seamless transition to Gourjian Law group, serving as outside general counsel for our clients.
Ms. Palmieri attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California, where she was a member of the Entertainment Law Review. Prior to that, she earned her B.A. in Political Science from University of California, Los Angeles.
Ms. Palmieri was born and raised in San Diego, California, before relocating to Los Angeles. During her free time she enjoys volunteering for various organizations, and is an avid backpacker and hiker.
Brianna is an associate at Gourjian Law Group, P.C. Brianna received her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and was thereafter admitted to the California State Bar. During law school, Brianna clerked for the Honorable Roy L. Paul and was a published author in the Loyola Law School International and Comparative Law Review. Brianna also served as Senior Note and Comment Editor for the publication.
Since law school, Brianna’s practice has focused primarily on real estate and general business matters. Some of Brianna’s other background includes general civil litigation, negotiation and drafting, co-founding an online company called Borrowize, Co., an internship at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, working for nonprofit organizations, in politics, and as a leader in various settings.
In her free time, Brianna enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, golfing, snowboarding, hiking and reading.
Karlen Parsamian is a law clerk at Gourjian Law Group. Mr. Parsamian has experience in the practice areas of real estate, emerging companies, corporate governance & transactions, and private equity.
Mr. Parsamian earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, and his B.A. from UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude, with departmental honors in Political Science. While at Penn Law, he externed with the largest angel investor network, the Keiretsu Forum, and served as a law student counselor to startup companies at the Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic.
